On September 28th, Skye Faucher will represent Saint Lucia at the 73rd Miss Universe Pageant in Mexico.

Faucher, a recent graduate of St. Joseph University and Fisk University, was crowned on July 27th at The Harbour Club in Rodney Bay, succeeding Earlcya Fredrick, who represented Saint Lucia at last year’s event.

At just 24 years old, Faucher embodies more than just beauty; she also has brains, holding a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She represents women in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Faucher has expressed on her LinkedIn her desire to use her education to contribute to environmental conservation and biodiversity restoration. She is “open to opportunities in academia, government, or non-profit organizations in the United States or internationally.”

Although she has kept a low profile since her crowning, Faucher has reportedly expressed her excitement about representing Saint Lucia and participating in Miss Universe.

During her downtime from academic and recent achievements, Fisk University shared that she has a passion for volleyball and has played in over ten countries. She also enjoys reading and shopping.

The Miss Universe Pageant, which celebrates diverse cultures and backgrounds from across the world, will be held in Mexico for the fifth time this year, with the last event being in 2007. The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) aims to advocate for gender equity and provide opportunities for women to pursue their personal, professional, and philanthropic goals, as they,” believe that the future of humanity rests on reaching gender equity around the world,”

The organization recently announced that in 2024 “every adult woman in the world will be eligible to compete to be in Miss Universe.” Making only women between the ages of 18 to 28 able to compete.

As the pageant approaches, Faucher will join a group of women who have been crowned in their home countries, all sharing the dream of becoming the next Miss Universe. “These women are forward-thinking and motivated not just to talk about change but to enact it,” stated the MUO.
