Florida A&M University alumna Brandi Tatum-Fedrick, assistant vice president for Annual/Affinity Giving and University Engagement, will now oversee Alumni Affairs at Florida A&M University. This announcement comes after former Alumni Relations Director Carmen Cummings-Martin was promoted to Chief of Staff for Timothy Beard, Ph.D., the interim president.

Tatum-Federick will continue to oversee the cultivation of annual gifts and strategically improve alumni engagement in her new position as associate vice president of Annual/Affinity Giving and University Engagement/Alumni Affairs. In order to ensure that FAMU graduates continue to be involved in the institution’s existence and legacy, her work will concentrate on strengthening ties between the university and its alumni community. She will continue to answer to W. Anthony Neal, the FAMU Foundation’s executive director and vice president for university advancement.

“Dr. Tatum-Fedrick’s expanded role is a testament to her deep commitment to FAMU. I’m confident she will continue to build strong, lasting relationships with our alumni that support the University’s progress and uphold our tradition of excellence. This transition ensures we are not only sustaining momentum but strengthening the bridge between FAMU and the Rattlers who proudly represent us throughout the globe,” Neal said.

In addition to overseeing donors, Tatum-Fedrick’s leadership includes creating and directing extensive yearly fundraising campaigns and overseeing important business alliances with organizations including Estee Lauder, Boeing, Mielle, and the Helios Foundation. Her creative strategy for engaging alumni aims to deepen connections with FAMU’s extensive alumni network, utilizing these connections to create a welcoming and active community.

“Taking on the additional responsibilities of Alumni Affairs and University Engagement represents a tremendous opportunity to bridge our past and present at Florida A&M University,” said Tatum-Fedrick. “It allows us to strengthen ties with our valued alumni, enhancing their involvement in shaping our university’s future. This role is not just about building relationships; it’s about fostering a community where every member feels engaged and valued. I am excited to drive these initiatives forward, ensuring our alumni not only witness but actively contribute to the ongoing success and vibrancy of our university.”

In addition, Tatum-Fedrick has helped the university by promoting and coordinating endowment activities for faculty and staff as well as organizing giving campaigns for sororities, fraternities, and class reunions, all of which have greatly increased alumni participation and financial contributions.

Tatum-Fredrick is a graduate of FAMU. She holds a Bachelor of Science in elementary education, a Master of Applied Social Science in public administration, and a Doctorate of Education from Florida State University.
